Biographical / Historical

Rancocas Preparative Meeting was established in 1776. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Rancocas Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued circa 1918. Rancocas Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued circa 1925, and its members were transferred to Burlington Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). This meeting was often referred to as "Ancocas".
