Biographical / Historical

A preparative meeting at Fishing Creek was established by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting in 1799. At the time of the Hicksite Separation --which in this area of Pennsylvania did not occur until 1829-30-- the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 11mo 1893, following action by the Monthly Meeting of Friends held at Millville, Pa., its parent meeting, Fishing Creek Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) began using the name "Preparative Meeting of Friends held at Millville, Pa." This preparative meeting was discontinued in 1894.
