			<head>SHORT HISTORY OF MEETING </head> 
			<p>A meeting for worship and preparative meeting were established at
				Green Street in 1814 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting under Philadelphia
				Monthly Meeting for the Northern District. This meeting was for members of
				Philadelphia Monthly Meeting for the Northern District who lived north of
				Callowhill Street. The meetings became part of Green Street Monthly Meeting in
				1816. At the time of the Hicksite separation in 1827, the preparative meeting
				remained with Hicksite Friends. Green Street Preparative Meeting was
				discontinued in 1914.</p>

				<bioghist>
					<p>Official records of proceedings kept for all Quaker business
						meetings. Only Quakers could participate. It has responsibility for care of
						members, authorizes removals and marriages, maintains discipline, considers the
						queries, manages meeting property, fosters social concerns, and reports
						regularly to the quarterly meeting. Beginning at the end of the 19th century,
						men and women ceased to hold separate business meetings, meeting instead in
						joint session.</p>
