SHORT HISTORY OF MEETING

An indulged meeting for worship at Doe Run was organized in 1805 by London Grove Monthly Meeting under the care of Fallowfield Preparative Meeting. The meeting for worship was established in 1808 by Western Quarterly Meeting. A preparative meeting, attached to Fallowfield Monthly Meeting, was established in 1811. The Orthodox branch was discontinued in 1828; its members transferred to Fallowfield Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). The meeting for worship was probably discontinued about this time. The Hicksite meeting for worship was discontinued in 1918. Doe Run Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1946 and its business assumed by Fallowfield Monthly Meeting. This meeting was unofficially known as Derry.

Monthly meeting records normally include minutes of men’s and women’s meetings for business and registers of births, deaths, marriages, removals (transfers), and disownments.
