A seasonal meeting for worship at Centre was established in 1687 by Newark [Kennett] Monthly Meeting. The first Center Monthly Meeting was established in 1807 by Western Quarterly Meeting out of Kennett Monthly Meeting. The Orthodox monthly meeting was merged into Kennett Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) in 1831. Center Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) changed its name to Hockessin Monthly Meeting in 1955.

In the 1980s a weekly meeting for worship was again held at the Centre meeting house. The following decade Centre became a preparative meeting under Hockessin Meeting. In 1995, Centre was established as a monthly meeting for a second time by Western Quarter.

The name of this meeting is often spelled "Center."
