In 1719, a meeting for worship known as "Brandywine Forks" or "Forks" was established for the winter by Kennett Monthly Meeting. In 1722, this meeting was permitted to meet on a year-round basis. A preparative meeting was established by Kennett Monthly Meeting in 1726. In 1737, the meeting for worship and preparative meeting were transferred to Bradford Monthly Meeting.

The Orthodox preparative meeting was discontinued in 1922, and its members were transferred to Caln Preparative Meeting.

The Hicksite preparative meeting removed to Romansville in 1846 and became Romansville Preparative Meeting. The meeting was transferred to Bradford-Uwchlan Monthly Meeting in 1883. The preparative meeting was discontinued in 1890 and its members were transferred to Uwchlan Preparative Meeting. There was an indulged meeting at Romansville under Bradford-Uwchlan Monthly Meeting from 1890 to 1901; in 1901, the care of the meeting was transferred to Sadsbury Monthly Meeting (Hicksite). This meeting is currently active on a seasonal basis.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE RECORDS

Records include: minutes of the pre-Separation meeting, 1764-1824; a Hicksite membership list, 1894, contained in Bradford Monthly Meeting record book, 1828-1899; Orthodox men's minutes, 1828-1875; pre-Separation and Orthodox women's minutes, 1821-1844, 1907-1918; and Orthodox property deeds, 1820-1890.

Monthly meeting records normally include minutes of men’s and women’s meetings for business and registers of births, deaths, marriages, removals (transfers), and disownments. In general, non-members are not mentioned in the minutes, even when they attended meeting for worship on a regular basis.

Men's Meeting

Official records of proceedings kept for all Quaker business meetings. Only Quakers could participate. It has responsibility for care of members, authorizes removals and marriages, maintains discipline, considers the queries, manages meeting property, fosters social concerns, and reports regularly to the quarterly meeting. Beginning at the end of the 19th century, men and women ceased to hold separate business meetings, meeting instead in joint session.
