A records committee first published a report in the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Proceedings in 1955, though its work had begun earlier. The work of the committee was to record deposits of the records of various meetings in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware in the Friends Library at 142 N. 16th St. at least as of 1887. In 1977 the Bequests Committee gave the Records Committee $15, 475 to microfilm certain Friends records in order to guarantee the preservation of the documents. There are three copies of each reel: a master negative stored in the Bryn Mawr College Library, and two positive copies, one each at Swarthmore College and Haverford College. Today the Records Services Group, a working group under the care of the Standing Committee is charged to "oversee the collection, preservation, and future use of the records of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and its constituent quarterly, monthly, and preparative meetings."

Records of the Records Services Group, 1887-1979, include correspondence (1920s-1970s); accounts (1931-1978); and miscellaneous (1887-1979) especially as relating to the microfilming of records.
