Friends began to meet in York-town in Pennsylvania in 1764. In 1767
they requested that a preparative meeting be formed under the care of
Warrington Monthly Meeting. York Monthly Meeting was established in 1786.
During the Separation of 1828, York Monthly Meeting affiliated with the
Hicksite branch of Friends. Due to western migration, the meeting was laid down
in 1858. In 1932, the meeting was reorganized as an independent monthly
meeting. In 1951, York Monthly Meeting petitioned to become a meeting under
Warrington Quarter.
