Searching the Finding Aids in Friends Historical Library

Friends Historical Library routinely creates detailed guides that describe the larger collections of primary source material under our control -- including personal and family papers, organizational records, and meeting records.

These finding aids are descriptive access tools and provide more complete information about a collection than you will find in the on-line bibliographic catalogue. Most finding aids include an inventory of the contents of boxes and folders as well as historical background and other information that helps to put the collection into context for the researcher.

The contents of these finding aids may appear in the results provided in a most on-line search engines, but we have also provided a Google© search engine specific to the finding aids at Friends Historical Library. The finding aids are best viewed using Internet Explorer 5+ or Mozilla. Search results which begin with "%eadnotat;]>" refer to inventories written using Encoded Archival Description, an xml document type definition:
