Text-Message from Tripod
A new Tripod feature for people who:
You can now text yourself the call number of the book or document you need to grab from the shelf! Just look for the "Send via text message" button in any Tripod record. The text message will contain the location, call number, and title of the item on this page.
Be careful if you don't have a text messaging plan for your phone - carrier charges may apply.

This is great. It would be even greater ( and cheaper!) if we could have a little button that would allow you to send yourself an email message! I know we can make a saved list and email that, but is it possible to have a similar button to email yourself individual records?

Once upon a time we had a Print option. Maybe that only existed in the public Telnet view. In any event, I used it all the time and then selected email as the "printer" choice. (He said, wistfully.)
That said, I hate to say it but I would use this texting function a lot. Way to go Adam.

This is fabulous! I often use my cell phone to write myself a note of the call number of a book I've found on tripod, but I usually type it wrong and it's a hassle.

Nice job! Adam's technique of using javascript to add features to the catalogue has allowed us to do some interesting stuff as I mention in this blog post:

This totally blew my mind when I saw it! Whoa! Very useful, indeed.

Even more impressive than the technology is the idea. I admire Adam for saying "what if..." and hooking up two tools that we all use. Seems obvious after the fact, which is what makes it brilliant!
