New Social Sciences Librarian at Swarthmore!

Hello! My name is Erik Estep and, as a close reading of the title suggests, I'm the new Social Sciences Librarian at Swarthmore. My subject areas are Political Science, Economics, Sociology and Anthropology, Linguistics, and Psychology. I purchase materials in all of those areas, work three shifts at the reference desk (T 3-5, W 12-3, and TH 7-10) and teach a wide variety of library instruction classes. I'm also available for one on one instruction sessions.

I'm originally from Indiana (one of those "flyover" states) and have degrees from pretty much all of the Hoosier State's public universities (Purdue, Indiana, Ball State).

Beyond librarianship, I have quite a few hobbies. Some are tedious and some are not; you can decide which is which. In my spare time, I'm interested in political philosophy, revolutions (from that French one to the present), reading novels ranging from the popular (Stephen King) to the more esoteric (Don Delillo), wasting time playing computer sports games, rooting for the Cubs (any team can have a bad century), and watching bad movies being skewered on MST3K.

Please feel free to give me a ring (610-328-8503) or shoot me an email (eestep1@swarthmore.edu) or stop by my office (McCabe 112) if only to mock me for my allegiance to the Cubs (but if you like the Phillies, you really should have some empathy).
