Scott Silverman, Bryn Mawr College

scott.jpg

I’ve been at Bryn Mawr since 1984; indeed, Bryn Mawr has been my only full-time professional employer.  I am now in at least my fourth position; since 2000 I have served the Tri-College and Bryn Mawr libraries as electronic information resources licensing librarian and general negotiator/money tender. In 2002 I became Coordinator of the Humanities Node, adding Sciences in 2004 and relinquishing Humanities in 2007 but remaining Director of the Nodes.  Along the way I hope to have advanced the integration of library, information and instructional technology services for the disciplines in serving as a general advocate for both the staff of Information Services and our broader user community where our interests intersect.

I hold a BA (Drew) and MA (Bryn Mawr) in history along with an MS (Drexel) in Library and Information Science.  I review books regularly for Library Journal, specializing in cultural and intellectual history and criticism, and was awarded LJ's 2004 Book Reviewer of the Year award.  In 2004-2006 I was a member of  the American Library Association’s Notable Books jury.

I am married with two daughters, four cats and a dog.  I have a deep love of jazz (spreading into roots music), the written word, the state of Maine and making trouble.  Since a family trip to South Africa and Zambia this past summer I now include Africa high in my mix of passions as well.

My official work home is Guild Hall, Bryn Mawr College (ssilverm@brynmawr.edu, 610/526-5281), and I promise I look forward to helping out folks however I can.

Comments

Scott,
I'm just letting you know that I did check up on your background. I'll bet that you're a damned good librarian and that Bryn Mawr is lucky to have you.
Best,
Perry
