Contains several databases, the largest of which is the Archäologische Bibliographie, or "Realkatalog des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts Rom," the most comprehensive database for classical archaeology.   This database goes back to 1956, and succeeds the print Archaologische Bibliographie, which started in 1932 (Carpenter Periodicals DE 2 .D5).

For bibliography on the Black Sea and everywhere east, choose the "Eurasienbibliographie des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts."

Journals, Festschriften, and collected studies are all covered; the main focus is on the Mediterranean world. To enter the site, click "IP-Access" and then the English flag to the right of the database of your choice.  Help using DYABOLA.

Zenon, the catalogue of the Deutsches Archaologisches Institut. Much of the same information as DYABOLA, only through a free interface.

Included in this catalog are not only books held by the German Archaeological Institute libraries, but a full index to the journals and volumes of collected studies. You can also search by the DYABOLA subject headings (the "DAI Bibliographies" link).

"Search" allows keyword and browse (alphabetical list) searches. Results will be books or articles; results that are articles will have an "Uplink" link that will take you to the record for the journal or collected volume, from which a "downlink" will take you to the full table of contents of the volume. There is good coverage of archaeology in Greece and Turkey. This catalogue is Unicode-compliant, so  you can search for Greek titles in Greek.

An index to journal articles, conference proceedings and articles in collected studies. This database focuses on many subject areas relating to classical studies including archaeology. Not as comprehensive as DYABOLA, but easier to use. Covers 1959-present.

Abstracts of International Conservation Literature. Formerly Art and Archaeology Technical Abstracts: literature related to the preservation and conservation of material cultural heritage. Abstracts from journal articles, books, conference proceedings, dissertations and other resources. Covers 1932-present.

Offers abstracts of journals, museum bulletins and yearbooks in the fields of art, architecture, decorative arts and photography. Covers abstracts from 1929-present, full-text articles 1997-present. Quite good indexing of classical archaeology journals, including non-English journals. It is not as complete as Dyabola, but more up-to-date.

An archaeological database for current fieldwork in Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, Croatia, Albania, and Slovenia. Fasti Online web-based GIS database that contains a basic record sheet for each site excavated for any period in a given year with, the interim report for the year, together with any further documentation the director wishes to add. Sites range from the Upper Palaeolithic to the nineteenth century. Sites are searchable by project name, by period and type of site, and by clickable maps which provide an overview of the excavation locations. Projects from 2000 on; also included is bibliography on current projects.

The English translation. Contains A-P of the volumes on "Antiquity" and A-I on the "Classical Tradition."

Very useful for locating older articles in journals in English and western European languages. The major archaeology, art, and classics journals are indexed, and coverage is from the first volume of the journal.

Provides the tables of contents from a selection of mostly classics, but also archaeology, religion, and Near Eastern Studies journals. Subjects covered include: Greek and Latin linguistics and literature, Greek and Roman history, archaeology, mythology. About ten percent of the entries link to the full text of the articles. Covers published works from 1992-present.

DAPHNE pools together data from three databases : BAHR (Bulletin analytique d'histoire romaine), FRANCIS (records relating to prehistory and protohistory, art and archaeology files and part of the history and science of religion; Trico libraries do not subscribe to FRANCIS as a whole), FRANTIQ-CCI (catalogue of French university libraries; titles in anthropology).

• Searching is not Google-like: for a search of multiple words, type, for example, +Neolithic +ceramics (searching Neolithic ceramics will search Neolithic OR ceramics).

The Beazley Archive is a research unit of the University of Oxford's Faculty of Literae Humaniores. This web site provides access to photographs, notes, drawings and books relating to ancient Greek and Roman art. The photographs of Athenian vases are the largest archive of this class in the world and were the basis of John Beazley's life's work.
