Literature, Arts & Medicine Database (New York University)
This database indexes and describes representations of illness in literature, art, and film. It was designed for research and teaching in medical humanities. The database currently indexes over 2300 literary texts and provides each with an informative annotation. Use the search options on the left to find medical conditions, authors, or browse by keyword.
The Patient's Tale
This bibliography categorizes autobiographical writings by type of illness. Some entries include a description while others only give the author, title, and publication information. The compiler, J K Aronson, is a physician in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Oxford.

A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia (MedlinePlus)
This encyclopedia is provided by the National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health. There are over four thousand articles illustrated with many photographs and drawings. A.D.A.M. refers to a "digital human" developed to demonstrate anatomical explanations.

To find materials on a topic, try doing a keyword search in Tripod to find some relevant material and then use the subject headings assigned to those titles to find more books. These examples are a small sampling of possibilities.

Tripod - For locating books, journals, and other materials held in the Tri-College libraries. Deliveries within the Trico usually arrive in one or two days. Use the "Request" button in Tripod. You can also mark and then email or print records for multiple items.
E-ZBorrow and Interlibrary Loan - Request items that are not available in Tripod on this page. Note that PALCI E-Z Borrow provides books in 3 to 5 days.
