Use Tripod to locate books at the Tri-Colleges Libraries:

• Start with a basic keyword search
• Find a relevant result
• Look for the subject headings at the bottom of the page
• Click on one of the subject headings
• There will be a list of relevant items next to the subject heading
  
• Click on that list
• You will see a list of the most relevant books

Here are some very useful subject headings:

• Ethnocentrism
• Nationalism (add country or continent name to get a more detailed list)
• Communalism India
• Emigration and Immigration (add country/continent see above)
  
• Regionalism
• Self Determination National (add country/continent see above)
• Ethnicity (add country/continent see above)    

Be sure and write down the title, location, and call number for the book. Books are organized by Library of Congress subject headings. This may be a little different than what you were used to in high school. Here is a list of the locations in the library by call number:

• A-G call numbers are on the lower level
• H-K are on the second floor
• L-Z are on the third floor

If need a book from Bryn Mawr or Haverford, just click on the REQUEST button. Books usually arrive within 24 hours.
If a book is checked out at all three libraries, click on E-Z BORROW/ILL. E-Z BORROW allows you to look for books in our regional library system and place requests. It usually takes 3-5 days. ILL lets our staff look for it for you and takes 5-10 days.

Worldcat

Worldcat allows you to search for books all over the world. Use the relevants results and place a request through our online ILL forms.

The process for finding articles is similiar to finding books, just substitute descriptors and/or index terms for subject headings. Also, use BOOLEAN connectors (AND, OR, NOT) to search with two terms, widen your search, and narrow your search, respectively.
