The Pew Research Center for People and the Press
This is a professionally conducted, non-partisan poll and the site contains both survey results and the actual questionnaires they use. This site had some interesting questions about the nominating process qua process that might make for an interesting paper.
American National Election Studies
- One of the oldest and most respected polls.
- This website provides documentation and downloadable data for all the years of the ANES; if you download the data, you will need to examine it using SPSS or another statistical packages.
- Click Guide to Public Opinion to get summary tables and graphs for many interesting questions from the studies over the years.
- Click Data Center, then Study Page (for an individual survey), then Documentation to get to the list of questions asked on a study.
Gallup Organization
"This nicely designed site contains a wealth of information for researchers on opinion polls and trends. Polls in the recent news are highlighted on the home page. Clicking on the 'Gallup Poll' Tab brings you to the latest released poll and an archive of polls arranged by topic and going back to 1997. Special features include a guest scholar poll review featured each month, an informational FAQ section that explains the Gallup Polls' history and techniques, and special historical reports such as a list of 'The Most Important Events of the Century From the Viewpoint of the People'"--"Best Free Reference Web Sites 2000"--RUSA Quarterly, Fall 2000; reviewed Mar. 1, 2000.

Roper Center public opinion archives
Provides access to data from nearly a half million questions asked on national public opinion surveys, 1935 to present. The iPoll databank is organized at the question level.
