You may come up with other subject or keyword searches that provide you with good background materials. The subdivisions "moral and ethical aspects" and "social aspects" after a subject means that those books focus on philosophical and sociological aspects.

Alternative press index

Provides abstracts to alternative news sources including radical and left journals, newspapers and magazines. Coverage is international and interdisciplinary. Covers 1991- present. Alternative Press Index Archive, a companion database covers 1969-1990.

ProQuest Research Library

Provider: ProQuest

This is always a good place to start your research because it offers access to lots of full-text journal articles. If full-text is not offered directly from the article citation, be sure to click on the Find It! button to see if you can access it through Tripod. Because it covers many disciplines, from sciences to history to psychology to literature, you might get some strange results. But stick with it, because the payoff can be high.

JSTOR

Provides full-text and page images from many of the top journals in most academic disciplines, including. Coverage is from the inception of the journal through three to five years ago.

Web of science

Provider: ISI

Provides access to the Social Sciences Citation Index, Science Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Search for scholarly articles in any discipline, or for articles that cite a known author or work. Coverage varies.

Google scholar

"Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web"

The "News" section of LexisNexis Academic allows you to access massive amounts of full text news sources online. To search editorials use the "Add Index Terms" option.

Access world news

Provider: NewsBank

Newspaper full-text articles from the electronic editions of record for more than 700 newspapers around the globe, including the NY Times (2000-present). Database covers 1977-present.
