Finding Books:
Unlike most Science disciplines, Math researchers rely heavily on information published in BOOKS in addition to journals. The QA section houses all of our Math books and is by far the largest section in Cornell Library. Interdisciplinary math books will be found under other call numbers in all of the TriCo libraries.

Provides citations to the world's mathematical literature including journal articles, conference proceedings, and books. Topics covered include all aspects of mathematics, statistics, and related areas. Cover 1940-present.
Web of Science
This is a link to the NEW version of Web of Science. This multidisciplinary database can be searched by subject, author, and journal title. Articles that CITE a known author or work can also be searched. Cited reference searching helps identify more recent articles on the same topic. Coverage for the Science Citation Index in WofS now goes back to 1900!
Google scholar
Google provides a pretty good database for searching for scholarly literature. Use this IN ADDITION to library-provided databases listed here, as there is a lot that is NOT included in Google Scholar. But - it also often digs up good stuff that other databases don't! Use the 'Check Tripod' and 'Find it @ Swarthmore' links to see if we have access to full text.

ACM Digital Library
Provides access to the Association of Computing Machinery's journals and other resources including conference proceedings, newsletters and transactions. Includes computer science and related disciplines. Covers 1969-present.
IEEE Computer Society digital library

Provides online access to society magazines and transactions and selected conference proceedings published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Covers 1988-present.
JSTOR
An amazing resource which provides full-text access to the COMPLETE runs of journals, except the most recent 4-5 years. There are many mathematics (including AMS & SIAM journals), statistics and economics journals included in this database. JSTOR has its own search engine.

InterLibrary Loan Information & TriCollege Borrowing:
While Cornell Library has a really good collection, obviously there will be times when we don't actually own something you've located in your research. That is when you'll need to borrow from other libraries and to do this you will need InterLibrary Loan (ILL).
Tri-College ILL - BOOKS: If you want a book from Bryn Mawr or Haverford, simply press the REQUEST button at the top of the Tripod screen. Enter your name & barcode, and select WHERE you want to pick up the book. Delivery takes approximately one day library to library.
Non-TriCollege ILL - BOOKS: For books NOT available in Tripod, try E-Z Borrow and request books directly from nearby Pennsylvania & NJ libraries. Books usually arrive within a few days. If the book is not available via EZ Borrow, try regular InterLibrary Loan. (Use Worldcat to get complete BOOK information).
JOURNAL ARTICLES: For articles in journals not available from the main libraries in TriCo*, use the online ILL form. You must put the COMPLETE JOURNAL TITLE in your request - do not use abbreviations, or your request will most likely be sent back to you. For complete journal titles, check the book behind the Circulation Desk, or go to Journal Abbreviation Sources.
* Journals DO circulate from main libraries, so if you need an article from a non-science library journal, place a hold on the actual journal volume in Tripod and it will be sent via TriCo van!
* Your Swat ID will get you into Penn's libraries, but you cannot borrow directly from them. You must use ILL to get anything from Penn.
