Finding Census Data

Social explorer
Offers access to reports and interactive maps for the U.S. Census, 1940 through 2000. A project of Queens College, sponsored by the New York Times and the National Science Foundation.
American factFinder
Provides population, housing, economic and geographic data from the latest Decennial Census, the Economic Censuses and Surveys, and the American Community Survey. Users can view reference maps and create comparison tables and thematic maps which can be downloaded and printed. Coverage varies.
Philadelphia NIS neighborhoodBase
Provides information from the U.S. Census and several city agencies on a variety of topics, including housing, population, land use, utilities, and more. Census information is from 2000; other city information is more recent. A project of the Cartographic Modeling Lab at the University of Pennsylvania.
Historical Census Browser
Provides information from the U.S. censuses taken each ten years from 1790 to 1960. A project of the University of Virginia Geostat Center.
CensusCD 1980
CensusCD 1980, allows access to the complete results of the 1980 US census, down to the census tract. Over 2,500 demographics, and geographic identifiers exist for every geographic area. A full set of 1980 maps, along with mapping software, have also been included.
