The books and articles you need for your research may not be available within the Tri-Colleges. We have two systems available to help you retrieve the materials you need. See this page to place your requests.

Provides historical, political, geographical (including maps), economic, technological and military information about most countries of the world. 

Chose the Credo Reference version in order to download data into Excel, and to also access country information via the Columbia Encyclopedia and other reference books.

Provides the most recent international trade information available from the National Trade Data Bank, the National Economic, Social & Environmental Data Base and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Provides access to statistical publications that focus on economics and trade.

Provides abstracts to economic journals, books, book reviews, dissertations, and working papers. Topics include economic theory and history, monetary theory, labor economics, international, regional and urban economics. Coverage 1969-present.

Provides abstracts of journal articles, books, government documents, statistical compilations, committee reports, intergovernmental, and private organizations reports. Areas covered include political, economic, social and public policy issues. Covers 1915-present.

Provides citations and abstracts of journals in political science and related fields including international relations, law, and public administration/policy. Covers 1975-present.

Provides citations and full-text magazine and journal articles in a wide variety of disciplines, both scholarly and popular in scope. Covers 1971-present.

Full-text and page images from the top scholarly journals in many fields, including almost 50 economics titles. Coverage is from the inception of the journal through three to five years ago.  Create an account on MyJSTOR in order to save links to your favorite articles, or export citations to EndNote Web.

Provides access to the Social Sciences Citation Index, Science Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Search for scholarly articles in any discipline, or for articles that cite a known author or work. Coverage varies.

Newspaper collections from NewsBank provide full-text articles from the electronic editions of record for more than 700 newspapers around the globe, including the NY Times (2000-present). Database covers 1977-present.

Hundreds of newspapers and magazines -- foreign, domestic and local -- dating back to the 1980s and earlier. Also includes business information and law reviews.  Some sources available in Spanish, German, Dutch, French, and German languages.

Provides abstracts and indexes of statistical information from U.S. government publications from 1973, state and private sources from 1980, and approximately 2000 documents from international organizations from 1983. Full-text or web links provided for some citations. 

Includes full text of documents including Industry Trade and Technology Review; World Factbook (CIA); U.S. Foreign Trade Highlights; Background Notes on the Countries of the World (State Dept.).

Contains time series data for most IMF members (over 200 countries) including data on a country's exchange rates, international liquidity, money and banking accounts, interest rates, production, prices, international transactions, government accounts, and national accounts as well as commodity and trade statistics. World Development Indicators contains development data covering more than 860 indicators, 225 countries,and 18 regional and income groups. An extensive collection of data that includes population, income, social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental indicators. Covers 1960-present.

Census bureaus and other official data gatherers from around the world.

"The Penn World Table provides purchasing power parity and national income accounts converted to international prices for 188 countries for some or all of the years 1950-2004. The European Union or the OECD provide more detailed purchasing power and real product estimates for their countries and the World Bank makes current price estimates for most PWT countries at the GDP level."
