To scout out whether this PRINT set will have useful topics for you,  search the Online version of Kirk-Othmer. Very handy to browse by topic (in the upper right corner) to pull up a list of interesting compounds in context. For example, look at dyes and pigments or agrochemicals and drill down to colorants for cosmetics etc. When you have determined that it is useful for you, come into the library and look at the article(s) by using the print index volume. The print editions sometimes have MORE info than the online!

See this in the Reference section of the library. Great for concise description of known chemicals, drugs, plant derivatives and more. Entries give physical and chemical descriptions of the compound itself and derivatives. You can find useful references on syntheses and uses. Includes structures. A time-saver!

Try this cool new tool to see structures and more. You can search by typing in a common name (e.g. focalin) or part of a chemical name (e.g. quinine* and it will find quinine sulfate etc). Results go directly from your search results to a  government/academic sites like Drug Bank, NIST, and NCI and including chemical catalogs. Answers often link to another site that has 2D-stereo structures or 3D interactive structures. JMOL structures does not require special visualization software and is easy to use.
