PRINT Encyclopedias & Reference Works in the Library:
Use these books in Cornell's REFERENCE collection to find good background information on your topic. ONLINE Encyclopedias & Reference Works:
These are online encyclopedias that are provided by the library, so you must be on a Swarthmore College computer to access them. You will not be able to get to these from any off-campus computers.

Provides full-text access to articles, dictionary terms, biographies, research updates and links to related websites in all areas of science and technology. Covers 2000-present.
Encyclopedia of life sciences
A fully searchable collection of articles by scientists and historians in ALL areas of Biology. Also available in print on the shelves near the Ben Franklin head.
Grzimek's animal life encyclopedia
Provider: Gale
Provides articles and illustrations on animals, their life cycles, predators, food systems, overall ecology and more.

ALA Great Web Sites for Kids
The American Library Association has put together a good site for tracking down websites for kids. Look for the Appropriate for Middle School aged youth web sites under each subject area. You can SEARCH the whole website on the search page.
Homework Spot: Middle School Science
A good source of websites covering: Astronomy, Chemistry, Earth Science, Life Science, Weather and much more.
The MAD Scientist Library
Scroll down the screen to find "OFF THE SHELF" which provides links to web pages under topics from ANATOMY to ZOOLOGY.

This is a brand new online wikipedia, created for students. This link is to the general SUBJECT page.

Check out the subject categories in the left column for areas that would cover your topic.
Delaware County Library System Databases:
If you have a Delaware County Library card, you can get access to LOTS of databases from any computer! These databases will give you articles and websites that could help you with your research, not only for this project, but for all of your school papers and projects! And you can even use PowerSearch to search more than one database at the same time!
